There was absolutely no cell service inside the rooms - we (and all the other guests) had to go outside the room to call or text, and the wifi service was slow but did its job.
All-in-all pretty mediocre but worth the price room - until we checked out.
He repeatedly shouted at me from outside my truck that my pets warranted a $100 charge because they had been in the room overnight and were undeclared and it was "no good."
We kept our cats in the truck (they're terrors in strange places) - except for taking them out once at night and in the morning - and our gerbil in the room. When checking out, we loaded everything in our truck, and got in to leave - and we're approached, very abruptly and angrily by a man who did not identify himself - who kept telling me - not asking, telling me, that I had pets in the room. A cat and a dog.
How are they supposed to be declared, when me telling your staff at check in, doesn't matter??
He yelled at me, saying he had seen us bring them in the room on the tapes and that it was "no good." He also stated that he had already checked the cameras and saw us take them in the room - yes, because your hotel was pet friendly and we were under the assumption that meant that we were allowed to bring them in.
I replied that we had 2 cats, and had thought the hotel was pet friendly? He said yes, but yours were undeclared and THAT was a $100 dollar charge.
Warranted or not - which it was NOT - you do not treat hotels guests this way. I felt very attacked - this strange man would not allow me to speak, was standing inches from my truck window, shouting at me about something I didn't understand and did not do.
I said no, we told the lady at check in we had cats and a gerbil - and that our cats hadn't even been IN the room the entire night. "It doesn't matter at check in" he said, "They we're undeclared"
A good choice for the price, this inn has the basics. Rooms are a little small, some basic amenities, and a small outdoor pool. I'm not sure about the breakfast since I left early the next day, but they probably have just the bare bones of choices there. This place is comparatively inexpensive and it shows.
The website says Pet Friendly (the woman at check in asked if we had pets, I said no. She said do you have dogs? I said no, no dogs 2 cats and a gerbil. I assumed that was that, because she said nothing further.)
My family had a great experience at the Sunset inn, We were road trip camping and found our self's without a camping spot for the night. with limited money to spend and quick search online this motel came up. They honored the online price no issue. The room had A/C , the pool was nice and kid friendly. Super nice folks what more could I ask for. Definitely recommend the Sunset Inn.
We checked in - everything was ok - room was a little dated and dark but comfy, table was broken but we didn't use it, one of the lamps didn't work, shower had low water pressure but nice hot water. Room was clean but old.
Eventually, after 5 or so minutes of this man shouting at us, we just drove off.
When we told the hotel manager he just blew it off like it was nothing said oh don't worry he drinks a lot and asked if we wanted to stay another week.... I would give this place half a star if it would let me!! Don't waste your money at the sunset inn!!!
The staff was pleasant. It is a motel run by a local family so they are always around to assist. The room was clean and spacious, although it could use an update. There was a very limited breakfast but it was enough to start the day. For the money, I thought this hotel was a good deal.
This hotel is NOT Pet Friendly or Pet Safe - in fact I think they use that to try and get an "undeclared Pet" charge from their guests at check-out.
The pool was cloudy and had some little foam pieces floating in it, but it was swimmable. It was also located directly on the main road and would not be pleasant to use during heavy commuting times. There is a fence and a hedge to block some of the noise and sights, though.
Please Read if you have Pets:
I WILL NOT be staying here again or recommending this hotel to anyone. I sincerely hope that this hotel does not try to charge this mystery $100 on my card because that will cause a lot of problems.
Would NOT recommend this place to anyone!! the beds are like sleeping on cardboard and there's a extremely Creepy guy that lives in room 214. Me and my girlfriend were in the room next to him, we caught him looking in our window and one night at 1am or so he was so drunk he was outside yelling very aggressive things. It got so bad someone actually called the police!
